Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive medical treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. This therapy enhances the body’s natural healing process by delivering increased levels of oxygen to tissues and cells. The pressurized environment allows the oxygen to dissolve in the blood plasma, reaching areas that are difficult to access under normal conditions.
HBOT has shown remarkable effectiveness in treating a wide range of medical conditions, including wound healing, radiation injuries, neurological disorders, and more. By promoting tissue repair and reducing inflammation, HBOT offers a safe and powerful approach to improving overall health and well-being.
Some of the several medical conditions that can be treated by Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy are the following:
Severe anaemia.
Brain abscess.
Bubbles of air in your blood vessels, known as arterial gas embolism.
Burns.
Carbon monoxide poisoning.
Crushing injury.
Deafness, sudden.
Decompression sickness.
Gangrene.
Infection of skin or bone that causes tissue death.
Non-healing wounds, such as a diabetic foot ulcer.
Radiation injury.
Skin graft or skin flap at risk of tissue death.
Traumatic brain injury.
Vision loss, sudden and painless.
The benefits of HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) are many, some of which include:
Promoting the growth of new blood vessels
Decreasing swelling and inflammation in the body
Increasing the body’s ability to fight off infections
Removing toxins and waste products
Improving cognitive functions
Stimulating new capillary growth that aid in simple wound healing
Stimulating the brain cells
Enabling the formation of new collagen and new skin cells.
Types of Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy uses 2 types of chambers:
Monoplace chamber.
The Monoplace Chamber is designed for single occupancy of humans. It has a combination of acrylic glass and a metal shell-like structure. The chamber is pressurized solely with pure oxygen. In this machine, patients have to lie down inside the chamber for treatment.
Key Points
For single occupancy.
Direct pressure of pure oxygen.
Easy to operate and safe for patients
Multiplace chamber.
The Multiplace Chamber is designed to treat multiple patients at a time. Patients in this machine breathe pure oxygen through masks and hoods only, & the chamber is pressurised with breathable air. Patients can be treated while sitting or lying.
Key Points
For multiple occupancy.
Pressure through air reservoir.
Oxygen through mask (BIBS) or hood
Advanced Physiotherapy
At North Edge we take pride in offering enhanced mobility with our Advanced Physiotherapy services. Our advanced equipments support expert physiotherapists in going beyond conventional approaches and crafting personalized programs that address your unique needs, thus ensuring a holistic path to recovery and well-being.
Some of the common physiotherapy machinery and equipments that North Edge deals with are:
Electrotherapy Devices
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation): Provides pain relief by sending electrical pulses through the skin to stimulate nerves and block pain signals.
Ultrasound Therapy: Uses high-frequency sound waves to promote tissue healing, reduce inflammation and alleviate pain.
Mechanical Traction Devices
Cervical and Lumbar Traction Units: Provide controlled stretching of the spine, relieving pressure on the discs and nerves.
Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) Machines: These are used after joint surgeries. They promote controlled and continuous movement to prevent stiffness and improve joint mobility.
These advanced physiotherapy equipments contribute to comprehensive rehabilitation programs, enabling physiotherapists to address a wide range of conditions and facilitate optimal recovery for their patients.
